Abstract

Among the artistic creations in the Viceroyalty of Nueva España (New Spain), feather arts stand out. They inherited a long pre-hispanic tradition, and they were used by friars in order to favour the evangelization process. The convents established workshops where many artistic works were made, mainly religious, although some of them were profane. Saint Jerome´s picture (mid XVII century) kept at Saint Joseph´s convent (Seville) presented now.
