Painter Joaquín Valverde Lasarte (Seville, 1896-Carmona, 1982) was reluctant to exhibitions, contests or any other form of artistic promotion, which contributed to a general lack of knowledge about his endeavor. Although it is true that some research have addressed the importance of his career as pensioner at the Academia de España in Rome, or regarding the drawings of a specific biographical stage, it is necessary to provide a concise overview of his life and work in order to place suitably the pictorial production of Joaquin Valverde through the Spanish art scene of the 20th century. This is the main objective of this article.
