Being an author and reader: writing to yourself. Apply writing in philosophical consulting

Authors

Abstract

The purpose of this text is to present writing as a philosophical act that allows for self-encounter and dialogue, while also paving the way for creativity and philosophical reflection. Thus, when applied in philosophical consultancy, writing enriches the philosophical act by facilitating the encounter between the creative and critical dimensions. Through writing exercises, the consultee draws upon their experiences, emotions, ideas, and beliefs to concretize, organize, and articulate them through writing, inherent to the critical dimension. However, they could also tap into their freedom and imagination to explore new possibilities, propose fresh perspectives, or establish relationships between ideas, thereby opening avenues for the creative dimension. This text also provides examples of writing exercises conducted during certain sessions and elucidates the impact they had on their development.
