Abstract

With this article we intend to make visible and vindicate the figure of the Spanish dancer Isabel Cubas, who achieved great popularity in the central decades of the 19th century and was one of the first artists in our country to bring the dances of the Bolera School to the North American scene. In the absence of bibliographic sources that allow us to delve into the life and professional career of this artist, we have carried out an exhaustive review of the European and North American press from the period between 1830 and 1865, which offers abundant information about the character.
