Abstract

Gabriele D’Annunzio was a well-known Italian writer and politician who introduced into Italian literature the character of femme fatale, a woman who represents beauty and sensuality, qualities that she uses to dominate men. In front of this term we find the femme fragile, characterized by its dedication and submission. This article aims to analyze these two female archetypes in D’Annunzio's work and their importance in later literature.
