FURIOUS INSOMNIA: FURY AESTHETIC IN SILVINA OCAMPO´S TALE “LA FAMILIA LINIO MILAGROS

This essay provides an acute reading of Silvina Ocampo's short story "La Familia Linio Milagros", published for the first time in 1937 within the Viaje Olvidado corpus. To approach the ominous as a category of analysis, I will take into account the investigations carried out by Sigmund Freud in das Unheimlich in 1919. My hypothesis is that anger destroys family love. The questions that will guide my research are: why does Aurelia appear as a disturber of the family tranquillity? Why does the fury of insomnia enter into an intimate relationship with Aurelia's death? And, under which circumstances the family silence become frightening? To delve into the aesthetics of fury, I will take into account the Aristotelian philosophy that approaches emotions from a cognitive point of view, which includes the perceptions, beliefs, desires and value judgments on which they are based.
