Abstract
The article critically analyzes the series Succession (HBO, 2018–2023) as a complex representation of media power in the post-digital context. From a qualitative and interpretive approach, five central dimensions are examined: media concentration, post-truth, spectacularization of information, digital platforms, and political legitimation. Based on an analysis of ten key episodes, the narrative and aesthetic resources used by the series to show how information is manipulated, how emotionally charged narratives are constructed, and how the media function as tools of symbolic control are highlighted. In this sense, Succession does not limit itself to telling a family story, but also reflects the profound transformations in the political economy of communication, where the logic of algorithms and digital platforms has been displacing the old models of mass television. The study allows us to observe how the series exposes the manipulation of truth, the reduction of politics to a media spectacle, and the strengthening of corporate power with the ability to shape both public opinion and government decisions. It concludes that, rather than being a simple reflection, fiction becomes a space for cultural criticism of late capitalism, while raising questions about the risks that threaten democracy and informational diversity in a scenario increasingly conditioned by media conglomerates and algorithmic control technologies.
