In the preface to his Selected Writings, Aldo Rossi suggested that the pages of Walter Benjamin would have explained his thought better than he could have done, and there are many common traits in their intellectual paths. This paper aims to reflect on the unique transition from the systematic spirit of his early writings to a fragmentary spirit in his mature works.
