Este artículo analiza las características más importantes de las imágenes y obras artísticas que abordan el tema del VIH/SIDA. El gran impacto y repercusión de la epidemia de SIDA en la sociedad contemporánea han impulsado unas manifestaciones artísticas con unas preocupaciones comunes. Estas obras parten de unos planteamientos conceptuales e iconográficos que inciden en la necesidad de acabar con la representación que, desde las primeras etapas de la epidemia, ha estigmatizado a enfermos y seropositivos. El cuerpo se convierte así en el espacio privilegiado a través del cual plantear cuestiones de índole indentitario, social y político para romper con las imágenes que, todavía hoy, siguen estando presentes en el inconsciente colectivo.
This paper will analyze the most important characteristics of images and art works about HIV /AIDS. The impact of the AIDS epidemic in contemporary society has influenced in an art works, that have common concerns. This works are based on a conceptual and iconographic approach which shows the need to finish with the representation that, from the beginning of the epidemic, has marginalized the PWA. The body becomes the privileged site through which to talk about issues like identity and social and political consequences of the epidemic for try to break with the images about VIH/AIDS that, still today, are in the collective unconscious.
