The goal of this paper is to explain the function of philosophical biographies and their contribution to the knowledge of the reception of Ancient Philosophy (in particular, Aristotelian Philosophy) in the Renaissance. In order to achieve this goal, I will examine the Vita Aristotelis written by Leonardo Bruni as a philosophical artifact. The paper will show that it is possible to sustain an independent study of philosophical biographies in order to emphasize the particular representation of Bruni's Aristotle.
