This paper is a defense and offers an argument in favor of scientific philosophy. Concepts such as naturalism and scientism are contrasted in the light of philosophical research. A critical scientism is defended that scientific activity is an excellent human cultural creation for the acquirement of knowledge rather than defending science as the only source of reliable knowledge. The paper also holds that any philosophy that disregards or ignores scientific activity is not productive. The dialogue between science and philosophy is fruitful and necessary if the goal is consistent, informed and critical philosophical reflection.
