Abstract

The article elaborates the thesis that the contributions of Benjamin and Adorno carry out their own "linguistic turn", differentiated from the analytical tradition, as well as from hermeneutics and the philosophies of consciousness. He compares Benjamin's conception of language with that of Adorno, and assesses the appropriation they make of Schlegel and Freud. Adorno refuses to understand the Deutung as a reconstruction of a hypothetical sense of reality, since he falsifies, in his opinion, the experience of structural nonsense in contemporary societies that has its expression in certain samples of the avant-garde. In order to capture the truth of it, he introduces the notion of “dialectical image”.

Keywords: Transcendental, linguistic turn, dialectical image, Critical Theory.
