This text explores James Turrell’s work from its chromatic symbolism. We will work, in this sense, with the ideas of Henry Corbin on the chromatic phenomenon -in relation with the imaginal world-, with notions of Goethe’s colour theory, as well as with some Johannine and Pauline’s concepts. Due to the nature of Turrell’s work, we will elaborate a hermeneutic interpretation on a phenomenological basis. Turrell proposes the emergence of a renewed psychic/spiritual order related to his millennialist beliefs. Nevertheless, in line with the liminal nature of our time, the meaning of his works is absolutely changeable, ambiguous.
