Abstract

The difficulties of modern Aesthetics are presented here in postulating the exclusively subjective character of aesthetic experience. The emblematic theory of Francis Hutcheson showed, in his time, the irreducible character of the beautiful. The issue is still present in the contemporary scene: the experiential philosophy of Mark Johnson and George Lakoff tries to overcome the dualism still prevailing in contemporary aesthetic, from a theory that, seriously, considers the bodily bases of meaning.
