Happiness (eudaimonía) is a central concept in philosophical ethical writings. Here is presented a study about how the main Homeric writings support the meaning of this term, where, despite the fact that this notion is unknown, they use the words composed of good (εὐ) and daímon (δαίμων) to indicate the presence of a celestial being that guides the individual. Homer in his works uses a series of formulas to describe this daímon, and how this was identified as something close to the consciousness of man, a divine action within each human being.
