Due to the recent phenomenon of globalization and the different processes of cooperation and integration that are taking place between countries, there has been a constant and increasing international labor mobility, being necessary to guarantee social security rights for all these migrants.
Millions of citizens can set their employment history through contributions made in different countries. However, when they migrate, not only they face the risk of losing the coverage to which they were entitled in their country of origin but also they often find in the social security systems of host countries restrictive situations both in affiliation and coverage, being placed in a situation of significant vulnerability of their social rights and those of their families. As a consequence, "social security" is a right of which workers can be deprived when they relocate to work in a place other than their country of origin; a situation that may prevent workers to consolidate rights in each country’s social security systems, being necessary to avoid it.
