Author Guidelines

Publication rules

1. General aspects

CRATER. Art and History” edited by the Publications Service of the University of Seville, is an annual journal that publishes scientific articles framed within the field of humanities and its two main branches; Art and History. These publications should be understood in a transversal and multidisciplinary way, in which other areas of knowledge can converge (anthropology, architecture, sociology, artistic and visual creation, etc.). Special attention will be paid to those manuscripts that are the result of funded research projects.

2. Submission of original articles

The applicants must present original work, which has not been previously published in other media or platforms, and is not being considered by any other magazine for its publication. Papers will be accepted both in English and Spanish. The articles will be submitted in Word format for Windows or Mac OS, without information that identifies the author and following the template format provided at the end of these rules. The required metadata (Author(s), affiliation, ORCID code, financing received where applicable detailing the complete reference for this, etc.) will be provided in a separate file.

3. Reviewers

All articles will be anonymously reviewed by field specialists (Double Blind). The reviewers will not be part of the same organization as the author/applicant. The directors, alongside the editorial board, will safeguard the avoidance of any conflicts of interests.

4. Format and length

The articles will have a maximum length of 8,000 words, including: title and subtitle, abstract (150-200 words) and keywords (3-5) in English and Spanish, and footnotes. The name and affiliation of the author(s) will not count towards this limit. The submissions must follow the formatting rules contained in the following template

5. Visual resources (pictures, diagrams, graphs…)

The number of images is limited to 10 per article and must be sent in high quality JPG format (300 ppp) in separate files. A reference will be made within the text as to where each image must be placed. The use made of images is the author(s) sole responsibility and it will be mandatory to disclose its source and authorship. There is no maximum limit to the use of other visual resources (graphs, tables, maps, etc.). Again, disclosure of their authorship is mandatory. The magazine reserves the right to modify the size of any visual resources for their correct publication.

6. Quotes and bibliographic references

The quotes and bibliographic references must comply with APA rules (version 7). The following link provides guidance for the correct use of bibliographic references according to these rules.

Only the references that have been cited in the text will appear in the final bibliography.
