Abstract

The aim of this article is to reconstruct and make public through the analysis of several unpublished archives documents located in Spain and America, the figure of the art and antiques dealer Herbert Paul Weissberger, who lived between Madrid and New York. We also study in depth his years as an art dealer between those cities and the different works that passed through his hands. It is finally explained how he turn out into a recognized scholar directing several museums and art departments throughout his life as well as his teaching position at the New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts.
