This painting shows D. Gaspar de Bracamonte y Guzmán, the Count of Peñaranda, who was the Viceroy of Naples between 1659 and 1664, besides other appointments. In the Jabel it is emphasized that he established the convent of the Discalced Carmelites of Peñaranda (Salamanca), where he is interred
and where this picture remained until the ecclesiastical disamortization of the XIX century. lt is also stated that the portrait is by Antonio Martínez, the son of Jusepe Martínez, the famous painter and author of baroque Spain. The said oil painting was in the institution founded by D. Imeldo Serís-Granier y Blanco (1848-1904), the Marquess of Villasegura, and it is preserved in the University of La Laguna (Tenerife).
