Abstract

Toe representations known of Hercules in rest attitude are analyzed, within the Spanish Renaissance, to establish their iconographical precedents and to clarify the frequent relations that usually settle down between these figures and the Hercules Famese, who was not the real inspiratorof any of them. lt is possible to be appreciated, nevertheless, a good knowledge of the Roman sculpture and the ltalian of his time by the Hispanic artists.
