Abstract

An Immaculate Conception by Comelis Schut the Younger (Antwerp, 1629 - Seville, 1685) was recently discovered al the Faculty of T heology of Granada. Comelis Schut is one of the most prestigious painters in the flemish context in Seville and very close to Murillo. Nevertheless, his work didn't have the critic attention that really deserves, as it happens with so many excellent painters, outshined by Murillo's absorbing splendour.
