This paper deals with some aspects of the visual politics for and against Espartero, regent of Spain from 1841 to 1843. At that time, Seville emerges as an important reference in the liberal fight, through the use of artistic images in a political context. On the one hand, urban ornamentation designed on occasion of his proclamation included a relevant allegoric program. On the other hand, the image of the city was used as an icon of resistance.
