Abstract

The main purpose of this article is to study the background of the Portuguese architect and sculptor Caetano Alberto da Costa, before departure to Seville. Himself a son of a woodcarver master, António da Costa, he learns his art and trains his skills in his father´s workshop in the beginning of 18th century, which he will apply and develop years later in the city of Seville.
