This article studies one of the most representative works of Spanish silver, patriarchal cross of the Cathedral of Seville, an work of silversmith Francisco Merino. In addition it provides new information on an analysis of its far-reaching influence as a model and prototype in Andalusia and Castile during the final years of the sixteenth century and the first third of the seventeenth century, with many related examples with the creativity of the goldsmith, his disciples and closest companions.
