NOBILITY, POWER AND RICHNESS. AN APPROACH TO THE SILVERWARE COLLECTION OF DON ANTONIO ALONSO DE PIMENTEL HERRERA, VI COUNT AND III DUKE OF BENAVENTE(1514-1575)

Abstract

In this article the silver collection from inventory in the year 1572 is studied what belonged to the III duke of Benavente. The weight and the price of the collection are estimated. The designs and the decoration of pieces to establish to their possible origin and authorship are analyzed. Also the uses and functions of this collection in the ducal Court are valued. So it is tried to deepen in the life and the artistic taste of the owner to reflect the mentality of the nobility at the Court of Felipe II.
