Abstract

This paper examines Andalusia’s recent contributions to the World Tourist Industry. The fi rst international visitors who were attracted by Andalusian monuments, archaeological remains and exotic sights came in the early 19th century but it would be much later that the Andalusian institutions would begin to set out what might be considered a proper tourist industry.
