THE SILVERWARE COLLECTION ATTACHED TO OUR LADY OF ANTIGUA’S CHAPEL, IN THE CATHEDRAL OF SEVILLE: ITS TRANSFORMATION THROUGH THE CENTURIES

Abstract

This paper studies the changes and transformations that the collection of silver items housed at Our Lady of Antigua’s chapel (Seville cathedral) underwent through the centuries. A series of inventories preserved at the Archbishop’s Palace’s archives point to a very large original collection of silver items which changed with the passing of the time. Nevertheless this chapel is today one of the richest one in the cathedral.
