Abstract

On the walls of the Cathedral of Segorbe hangs a superb portrait of the Bishop D. Rodrigo Marín y Rubio (1659-1732) which was painted by the great andalusian artist José Risueño (1665-1732) in 1708. The author offer reasons to be able to assume that the portrait was painted by Risueño in Granada just the year before D. Rodrigo was elected Bishop of Segorbe. The attribution of the painting it is based on comparison on a signed portrait of the Bishop D. Martín de Ascargorta which is located at the Archibishop’s Palace at Granada.
