The cuban city of Matanzas is a place where the construction of bridges has been prolific since its foundation because of its location between the rivers San Juan and Yumurí, in addition to others as Buey Vaca or Canímar that flow by their surroundings. In this article, a noted example of this constructive history, the bridge of Bailén, work of the militar engineer Carlos Benítez, is discussed contextualizing with its backgrounds.
