A mid-eighteenth century, the silversmith Miguel de Guzman became the epitome of Jaen silverware. His worth and artistic abilities earned him numerous commissions from Granada, especially the Basilica of San Juan de Dios. The hospital order commissioned him for twenty years various pieces of silver, among which the reliquary urn and the tabernacle, his last major work for the temple, at one described by Sebastian Fuentes Prior.
