For the restoration of the painted domes of the Museo de Bellas Artes in Seville, a series of historical and iconographical studies have been carried out which, together with the analytical studies, have served as a basis for carrying out the project. This article describes the process followed, and presents an account of the contribution of these studies to a better understanding of the work.
