Long relegated to the domestic sphere, Ivorian and Spanish women are engaged in the struggle against the patriarchal order by means of narrative. Thus, the taking of the word of Ivorian and Spanish women writers or novelists has constituted a tool of struggle for their salvation and liberation; proofs of modernity and emancipation. This article aims at analyzing the nonconformism of both Spanish and Ivorian women in the corpus constituted by Ana Matute's Luciérnagas and Fatou Keita's Rebelle, in which they play activist roles.
