Abstract

Children’s literature proposes a series of models that set images and patterns of behaviour. From a gender perspective, these models have corresponded to stereotypes and sexist roles that help to perpetuate their internalisation. From an early age, the reading subject apprehends this representation as a result of a differentiated educational and cultural process. From a hermeneutic of suspicion, feminist literary criticism has analysed these representations assumed, among other agents of cultural transmission, through reading. This article analyses the short story Daniela pirata, by Susanna Isern. The aim is to apply the lines of research proposed by feminist literary criticism to this children's book and to show how this approach and its didactics reveal the presence of symbolic images and egalitarian narratological elements, but also gender biases that reinforce the subordinate role of women.
