Abstract

The article examines the academic, research and cultural career of Enrique Valdivieso, a prominent Sevillian art historian. His work at the University of Seville was characterised by innovative teaching methodologies that promoted active student participation and by his influence on multiple generations of students. At the same time, he played an important role in the conservation and dissemination of artistic heritage through inventories, restorations, replacements of looted works and curating national and international exhibitions. His death in 2025 represents a significant loss for the cultural and research community in Seville, where his legacy remains a benchmark in art history and heritage preservation.
