La interpretación tradicional de la metafísica aristotélica afirma que el Primer Motor mueve directamente al primer cielo y causa el movimiento eternamente en la medida que es objeto de amor o deseo. La actividad de dicho principio es contemplar y el movimiento de la primera esfera es precisamente la imitación de esa actividad. Sin embargo, algunos comentaristas contemporáneos han objetado esta interpretación. Algunos de ellos sugieren, incluso, que el Primer motor es un alma. El propósito de este artículo es mostrar que esto no es posible en la explicación aristotélica.
The traditional interpretation of Aristotle’s metaphysics, says that the Prime Mover moves directly the first heaven and it causes eternal motion by being an object of love or desire. The activity of the Unmoved Mover consists in pure contemplation and the movement of the first sphere takes place because it imitates this activity. The soul of the first sphere, as an expression of love, gives rise to a physical image of eternal contemplation, where the physical image is the eternal movement of the sphere. In spite of this fact, some scholars have offered reasons in order to reject this account. Some of them suggest that the Prime Mover is a soul. The aim of this paper is to show that it is not possible in the Aristotelian account.
