Captives on the net. The impact of the metaverse on the right of access to information and the protection of personal data

Social networks have revolutionized the whole world. Today, more than half of the world’s population is a user of one or more social networks. A huge amount of personal information is communicated, informed and shared daily through them. However, today we know that networks are not innocuous. Precisely for this reason, the recent announcement of the creation of the metaverse should set off all the alarms. This paper reflects on some of the harmful effects of social networks, especially in relation to the rights of access to information and protection of personal data and examines some solutions.
