Abstract

Biological warfare is the premeditated use of microorganisms, and toxins, usually of microbial, vegetable or animal origin, to produce diseases and deaths among humans, livestock and crops. The story offers examples of some ancient civilizations that used during war conflicts elements of biological origin to obtain strategic advantages and inflict damage to enemies. However, in recent decades, these techniques are mainly attributable to terrorist groups, which used biological weapons as a highly destabilizing tool for society, the economy and public health.
