Focus and Scope

IUS ET SCIENTIA is the first electronic magazine in Spain on Law and Science. Aimed at the transfer of knowledge to society from academia. This free magazine allows the periodic publication of original papers in Spanish and English (in two ordinary numbers per year and in those monographic numbers accepted for publishing) , after passing a rigorous review process by independent experts, in particular on issues of bioethics and bio-law, new technologies and human rights. Founded in 2015 by Daniel García San José

Peer Review Process

IUS ET SCIENTIA undertakes to respect the opinions of the authors although they are not shared by the Editorial Board. The criterion of publication will be strictly motivated by the scientific quality of the papers presented. For it, IUS ET SCIENTIA has a review board that will participate along with external evaluators appointed ad hoc by the system of anonymous peer review. Confidentiality is guaranteed throughout the evaluation process, in particular the anonymity of reviewers and authors as well, and the favorable or unfavorable report to the publication will always be reasoned. Likewise, it is preserved the confidentiality of any clarification, claim or complaint to be established between the authors and the evaluators.

To the extent that IUS ET SCIENTIA is a journal that only publishes works that pass a peer review, the authors of the manuscripts submitted for consideration for publication must ensure that they preserve their anonymity and will refrain from including references that may induce reviewers disclose your identity. To do this, when the original text is uploaded to the platform, it is recommended to send two versions: one with your complete data and another without them. In any case, before sending the articles to be evaluated to the external reviewers, the ex officio editorial team will verify that the text sent to the external reviewers does not contain the authors' personal data to guarantee anonymity in the review.

Publication Frequency

IUS ET SCIENTIA is published in two regular issues, every six months (30 June and 30 December), and in the form of special issues, with a monographic character, when appropriate due to the interest of the subject and the quality of the contents.

Ethics Statement

"Due to its recent creation IUS ET SCIENTIA has not yet become Member of the Committee on Publication Ethics but voluntarily adheres to its Guidelines on Good Publication Practices".

IUS ET SCIENTIA subscribes to the code of conduct and good practice publications Ethics Committee for editors of scientific journals available in http://publicationethics.org/files/Code%20of%20Conduct_2.pdf and agrees with the academic community to ensure ethics and quality of works published, assuming the obligation to publish corrections, clarifications, retractions and apologies for any work or information published, , when necessary. In the interests of ethics and quality of papers published in IUS ET SCIENTIA plagiarism is prohibited in the papers submitted for publication.

1. General duties of the editorial team that make up IUS ET SCIENTIA

The Management and the editorial team of IUS ET SCIENTIA, as well as all its committees, undertake to keep abreast of all the contents published in the magazine.
i. To strive to meet the needs of readers and authors.
ii. To commit to the constant improvement of the magazine.
iii. To ensure the quality of the published content.
iv. To put science and ethical commitments before economic benefits
v. To retract, clarify, correct or apologize in relation to the content of the publications when necessary

2. Ethical commitments of the editorial team of IUS ET SCIENTIA with the readers

i.To inform readers about who or who founded the magazine, who runs it and is part of its editorial team.
ii. To ensure that all content has been reviewed by experts in the field.
iii. To publish clear, simple and concise rules for authors so that anyone can know the steps to follow to be able to publish in the journal.
iv. To commit to promoting scientific references in the works by maintaining clear guidelines for authors in this regard.
v. To show clarity regarding the ownership of the published works.

3. Ethical commitments of the editorial team of IUS ET SCIENTIA with the authors

i. That the reasons that lead to accept, accept with modifications or reject a work for publication only rest on scientific reasons based on its quality and originality.
ii. Except for serious errors in relation to the evaluation process, decisions on whether a work is accepted or denied will not be modified.
iii. The evaluation process followed to accept a job will be published on the journal's website.
iv. The publication of clear, simple and concise rules for authors so that anyone can know the steps to follow to be able to publish in the journal.

4. Commitments of the editorial team of IUS ET SCIENTIA with the reviewers

i. The commitment to provide reviewers with clear instructions on the evaluation process and on their obligations to the journal in relation to their review task.
ii. The commitment to require reviewers to express any personal interest that may cause neutrality issues in the review process.
iii. The commitment to maintain the anonymity of the review.

Policy anti plagiarism

Authors who request to be published in this e-journal must ensure the originality of their contributions and the fact that they have not been previously published or presented in other media. The Review Board will try to detect plagiarism as quickly as possible, eliminating any article if fraudulent content was detected after its publication.

In order to guarantee the academic integrity of the publication in cases where doubts are raised about the originality of a work submitted for evaluation, it will use the turnitin  pplication that allows you to review the documents detecting incorrect citations or plagiarism.
