In recent years we have witnessed the increase of studies on European and Spanish engraving due to its importance in the research of Art History. However, there are still few global studies on engraving in Andalusia, and even fewer with respect to those of the ancient kingdom of Jaén (partly due to the scarcity of documented examples). In this text we intend to make an approach to the engraving of Jaen, paying special attention to the calcographic production (almost exceptional in relation to the large number of cataloged woodcuts), making known some of the documented authors and their most relevant works.
