In the second half of the 19th century, a new iconography of the four continents was created in industrial workshops in Barcelona, which can be considered exclusively Hispanic, since they are distributed throughout Spain and Latin America and do not appear in other countries. It is linked to indians, merchants and industrialists, who place them in the gardens of their mansions. Although originally intended to be made of terracotta, the surviving examples are made of stone and marble.
