Resumen
En este artículo se aborda el tema del tráfico marítimo mercantil entre los puertos estadounidenses del distrito de Filadelfia y de Nueva Inglaterra, con España y Portugal en la última década del siglo XVIII y en la primera del siglo XIX. La base documental principal de este estudio la constituyen los registros de entrada y salida de las aduanas estadounidenses, junto a numerosa correspondencia de mercaderes norteamericanos.
