THE ROLE OF EXPERIENCE AND TEACHER TRAINING IN THE PHILOSOPHY OF EDUCATION OF JOHN DEWEY AND MATTHEW LIPMAN

Abstract

The philosophy of education is a branch of knowledge that focuses its research on the analysis of educational processes, which is why it has special practical relevance in the philosophical field, which has traditionally been related to theoretical issues. Within this field, we meet two thinkers who have shared their concern to bring a didactic of thought to the classroom: John Dewey and Matthew Lipman. Although they are separated by more than half a century, however, there is a complementarity in their studies that we will try to demonstrate. Both are part of the philosophy of education, implementing work methodologies aimed at teacher training from a philosophical angle. Our objective is to investigate the role that experience has occupied in the philosophy of education in both thinkers, as well as its application to the training proposals for teacher training.
