The Infinite Seed: the Legacy of Lola González, Master of Words

Lola González Gil sought to demonstrate, through her rigorous research, that children's and young adult literature and the promotion of reading were not secondary aspects or dimensions of academic life. Her solid doctoral thesis on the Cantigas de Alfonso X, wisely supervised by Manuel Ruiz Lagos, and her numerous contributions—which should be compiled into a volume, as they remain relevant today—attest to the depth of her knowledge and the creativity of her proposals. Drawing on such solid references as Renzo Titone, Mercedes del Amo, Alberto Manguel, José Antonio Marina, and her beloved Arcadio Lobato (to imply the dialogue between word and image), Lola González integrates her diverse perspectives into her comprehensive pedagogical approach, highlighting children's and young adult literature as a means of fostering imagination, critical thinking, and empathy in young readers. Her work reflects a combination of educational theory, literary analysis and teaching practice, always with a focus on the comprehensive training of the reader.
