Abstract

Working with corpora in the translation classroom involves a previous assimilation of many theoretical and practical concepts. his paper reviews the key concepts for classroom practice in the context of the development of instrumental competence. The objective of this research is to reflect on these contents in relation to the time constraints of the translator training curriculum. Thus,  we present both the theoretical and practical foundations which represent a basic substratum for classroom practice: the concept of corpus, the basic criteria for selecting texts, corpus typology and the process of compiling, analysing and managing corpora.
