PHILOSOPHY, SCIENCE AND AESTHETICS: GENEALOGICAL INSTRUMENTS FOR CONTEMPORANY DIAGNOSIS
Abstract
The diagnosis of the values of the present represented by Nietzsche’s genealogy, a critical challenge that Michel Foucault collects in our present with his «archaeology», raises the suspension of a series of philosophical categories, traditionally used in Western culture. This suspension attempts a displacement beyond the established values, a situation of test, test, change: exactly a new philosophical space of transvaluation or transformation. For both authors, Nietzsche and Foucault, transvaluation implies a critical philosophy that accepts two levels; on the one hand it uses for its objective rigorous procedures from the scientific point of view; on the other hand it aims to favor a creative and pluralistic thought that we can consider within the scope of the aesthetic dimension.
