LANGUAGE, LOGIC AND GRAMMAR IN FRANCIS BACON

Abstract

Modern philosophy will approach the linguistic phenomenon with great caution and distrust. The mediation exercised by language, an indispensable instrument of all human knowledge -including philosophical knowledge- in its approach to reality, will be considered as a distorting factor that will constitute for these modern thinkers one of the causes of the conversion of all previous philosophy into fruitless. The entry of language into the philosophical scene of modernity will be enormously unfortunate: when modernity poses language as a philosophical problem, the solution to it will be negative in most cases, or else it will lack such originating simply insoluble contributions.
