HEURISTIC POWER OF PRAGMATIC TURN’S BEGINNING: METHOD AND LANGUAGE IN WITTGENSTEIN AND AUSTIN

Abstract

This article deals with nuclear aspects of the theoretical proposals of Ludwig Wittgenstein and John Austin, aiming to specify and demonstrate the heuristic  richness that lies in their philosophies, as they represent a break with the philosophical tradition and open a new line of analysis on language. Thus, we first present key features of the pragmatic turn of last century and then focus on the conceptions of language and methodological definitions made by Wittgenstein and Austin, that have outlined a good part of the discussions of contemporary linguistic pragmatism
