Abstract
This article discusses the construction of regional identities in the colonial society of Portuguese America. Through the analysis of the discursive value of Portuguese-Brazilian chronicles made throughout the 18th century, we seek to outline such a panorama and the plans for integrating Brazil to Portugal in these narratives. Also noteworthy are the local genealogical inventions in the face of the socio-racial miscegenation of this historical formation.
