Fiscalidade, negociação e poder metropolitano: Salvador na segunda metade do século XVII

Abstract

In the second half of the 17^th century, the Portuguese monarchy, recently restored, faced many difficulties to consolidate itself. In a long process of negotiation, adaptation and centralization, the crown sought to defend and control its colonial space, managing to impose the defense costs of Brazil on the residents of the colony, who also had to contribute to the expenses of the metropolis in Europe.
