Abstract

The province of Chiloe, last royalist stronghold in Chile during the independence war, appears between 1864 and 1866 as scenery of a new armed conflict between its old and new authority. In this context, the objective of this study is to analyze, from documentary Spanish and Chilean sources, the characteristics of identity and national loyalty of its population during this episode.
